Questions to ask when choosing a puppy:

  1. What kind of lifestyle does this breed require?
  2. What personality traits should I be informed about?
  3. What grooming requirements are there with this breed?
  4. What type of exercise does this breed require?
  5. Are there any common health problems associated with this breed?
  6. Can I meet the puppy's mother and father?
  7. If one of the parents is not available, does the Breeder have pictures available of the parent?
  8. May I see / visit where the puppies are raised?
  9. How many litters do you have per year?
  10. What happens to your retired breeding dogs?
  11. How many different breeds do you breed?
  12. What is the average lifespan of the dogs?
  13. What type of food do you feed your dogs?
  14. At what age can the puppy go to it's new home?
  15. What immunization protocol do you follow for your breeding dogs and your puppies?
  16. Do the puppies have any type of socialization prior to being sent to their new home?
  17. Do the puppies have any type of training prior to being sent to their new home?
  18. Are you affiliated with any breeder associations? Why or why not?
  19. Do you have references?
  20. What guarantees do you offer with your puppies?
  21. Do you require spay/neuter contracts on your pet quality puppies?
  22. If, for any reason, I am unable to keep the puppy, what is your policy?

Most breeders are more than happy to answer questions related to the purchase of one of their puppies and will be just as concerned about the type of person/household they are releasing one of their puppies to. Remember: It is up to both the Buyer and the Breeder to be comfortable with one another and to ensure that the puppy has been and will be treated properly.

Dog Food

We have tried many different brands of dog food.  We strive to find the brand with the least amount of fillers, meat by products, and corn meal.  We fed and recommended Authority brand dog food, however that brand is no longer available.  We  tried a few brands but have found  The Blue Buffalo Co Hollistic dog food to have the ingredients for optimal health and nutrition for our dogs.  We recommend this brand and will provide a bag with each puppy.  We are very particular about the snacks we give our dogs and choose Salmon or duck with cod and sweet potatoes as they are high in omega.  We make our own frozen treats from yogurt, honey, and peanut butter. Our dogs love dinner time when we make salads since they always get  cut vegetables to snack on.   A healthy pet begins before birth and our goal has always been to produce healthy, loving family members.

My Girls

Makenzie, Presley, and Madison

I bought my first English Springer Spaniel in 1986.  Alexandra became an integral part of our family and was a constant companion to my three children, now grown with Springers of their own.   Since Alexandra we have grown to 4 females  and  2 males.  Madison, l/w (now retired and a fantastic grandma!), Makenzie, b/w,  and Presley l/w.  My son owns Thaiden b/w tri.  My eldest daughter and her husband have Dakota, l/w  and Drake, b/w tri sable.  Drake and Thaiden are our wonderful stud dogs and sire all of our litters.  We enjoy our Springers and strive to raise puppies that will make great family members!  We offer a 2 year health guarantee and all puppies are current on  vaccinations, have champion pedigrees,  and have AKC registration.

All our puppies are raised in the home as well as our adult dogs.  We start potty and kennel training before they go to their forever home.

Foremost, our dogs are family members;  We aren't a kennel nor do we show our dogs, however they have very strong champion bench pedigrees, and are show quality.

If you're looking for a hunting companion our line has a natural hunting instinct as well, and has produced some awesome hunters.  Makenzie and Dakota's sister is a field trial competitor.

Our goal is to produce loving, healthy companions for any household and are careful when placing our puppies into loving homes.   We keep in touch with our puppies' forever homes and love receiving pictures and stories on how they are doing.  Check out our past puppies in the Photo Center in the Things To Do Link.  And in our Testimonial Page.

During the warm months you will see us at the dog park.  Weather permitting, our springers are swimming in the lake.

We do have a contract we require all our buyers to sign, which outlines our health guarantee and has information for your new family member.   We are anticipating a litter with Dakota and Drake  early Fall!!!  Get on our waiting list now, our puppies sale fast!  My email address is mandsbreeding@aol.com   Feel free to call me for information  913-707-3927
